What is the "Morgan Le Mans '62"...
In 2002 the Morgan Motor Company built only 80 limited edition Anniversary
models (plus prototype - 'Car 0') of the classic Morgan Sports Car to
celebrate the 40th
Anniversary of the 1962 Le Mans class win by the Morgan Race Car
registered as TOK 258.
Of the 80 cars built, 40 of these were built with a
3900cc V8 engine (+8) and 40 with the 1800 engine (4/4).
When Morgan launched the Le Mans '62 all
the allocation of 80 cars were allocated within 72 hours, such was the
attraction of this piece of motoring nostalgia.
The cars were all 'clothed' in 'Le Mans Green' paintwork and were
supplied with a distinctive Ivory coloured removable hard top to mimic
the design and colour scheme of the original winning car - TOK 258.
Special
personalised instruments in the wooden dashboard together with black
leather upholstery and trim reflect the 'period' feel of this already
'traditional' vehicle, even the wooden Mota-Lita steering wheel bears
the individual number of each car.
Large
stainless steel wire wheels with 'knock-off' spinners and 'racing
slick' style tyres finish the tribute to the racing heritage.
The Registers 'mission' is to track down the remaining 79
cars and hopefully you can see other Le Mans '62 in the 'Register of Le Mans '62' .
