So with Goodwood visited last month, the
next great British Race Circuit had to be... Brooklands.
So when they opened the doors for a Morgan Day it just
had to be done!
A glorious sunny Sunday (a little too
early for us for once!) but a misty start to what turned
out to be a super day. We had already arranged to meet
up with Mike and Julie Evans (Car 40) (photo top left),
Mike is a volunteer at the museum and had told us what a
great day it is. Brooklands is a great museum with cars,
bikes (motor and otherwise) and aircraft. You can even
'fly' on an original Concorde. As a special event they
'fired up' and ran around the paddocks the famous 24
Litre Napier-Railton the holder of the fastest speed
record on the circuit. (Rita caught me looking admiring
the size of the Speedo, the red line was recommended to
be 1,800RPM!)
Only part of the original banked
circuits remains but the Test Hill was open for those
brave enough to try it. The 'brave' did not include Mike
and myself BUT did include Clifford Pratt (Car 9) (seen
on the left starting his tyre spinning journey).
His son certainly enjoyed it! So it was
great to meet Clifford as well.
The day was complete. Make an effort to
visit
Brooklands Museum you will enjoy it.

Car 79: October
3rd-5th 2008 - Cotswolds Run, England
(posted by Martin Cooper) |

Having bought Car 79, we decided to head
down to the Cotswold's area. We traveled down to
Broadway in darkness , but arrived without any mishaps!
(cream dials look fab in the dark anyhow) Luggage
space?, how to get all the baggage in behind the seats
with hardtop/headrests ??
Toured around in the sunshine on
Saturday via Broadway, Moreton in Marsh, Chipping
Campden, Chipping Norton,Woodstock and then on to meet
up with Keith and Rita with Car No 54 in Great Tew
(Falkland Arms). The cars looked great side by side on
the village green (sorry residents but they are Morgan's
after all!) - Took loads of shots and exchanged tales
with Keith and Rita.
Then back via Broadway for the night.
Sunday trip was back up the M6 via Malvern Link just to
take shots of TOK outside the factory with heavy rain
all the way!! I now know all the leak paths into my new
toy !! Passed an old sixty's Morgan with an elderly gent
driving on the road into Malvern with no top in the
pouring rain ! (they don't make Morgan drivers like that
anymore) - He waved at us - I bet he thinks we are soft
? - hard top on a Morgan !! what's all that about?Took
some images of TOK outside the factory in the pouring
rain and headed for sunny Cheshire to clean and polish
my new toy. Must buy a luggage rack , as we needed to
remove the top to get our luggage upon return home. |

It was great to catch up with Peter Alt
after sharing countless emails in getting the Register
updated from his hard work as the Founding Registrar.
Here's Peters' car in full summer trim (aeroscreens
and all) ,when I was able to meet up near his home town
near Frankfurt. |

All dressed up (including us), to get
into the mood for the 'Revival'
An excellent event and recommended to
all. Only disappointment was missing TOK258 parade on
the Sunday.

Along with other Classic Cars and
Tractors!
'Millie' carried the Town Mayor to the
start of the Winslow Show. Dressed up in her 'racing'
livery she drew a great deal of interest from the crowd.
But felt a little intimidated by the
Ferrari park next to her! |

Spot the Le Mans!
Great Sunny Sunday (well most of the
time!)
Fellow Lions, but of Newport Pagnell and
Olney origin ( I am a Winslow Lion) organised their
regular 'Motorama' but this year in the Town Centre Car
Park.
A varied display of vehicles young and
old and pleased to see ours was one of three fine
Morgans representing the finer side of motoring.
Although there are some things you can't
do in a Morgan (see left)...like enjoy a picnic (unless you have a
4 seater I guess!!).
Bet they have enjoyed the luxury of
a real back seat.
Well done Lions and a bit of cash for
charity too. |

'Millie' found new friends at a smaller
gathering of the OxMog at the Betsey Wynne Public House
in the village of Swanbourne in Buckinghamshire.
A sunny day after a very wet week
enabled to go Topless in a Pub Car Park - You can't beat
it!
(The eagle eyed viewers will see the new
number plate!) |

Car 54: 1st June 2008 - CranMog

Summer Fete and Open Gardens in Creaton
gave the ideal opportunity for our first trip to a Mog
Meet. Thames Valley Mog, FoxMog and CranMog met in a
members driveway to show of our cars to the folk of
Creaton in Northampton. I think the cars got more
attention than some of the gardens. Yes that was me in
the July issue of Miscellany! |
