May 17th 2009 - Waddesdon Manor Morgan Meet -
Buckinghamshire, England
(posted by Keith Hofgartner) |

A chance for LM62 cars to be amongst
nearly 150 Morgans that were displayed on the entrance
to this beautiful English Manor house. Although the
weather was very showery everyone was able to enjoy the
company of fellow Morganeers.
Especially enjoyable was the chance to
meet with Don and his son Richard Grayson in Car 63.
Thanks Richard for driving your father to meet with us.
(Was it more enjoyable than driving the MG?)
Car 40 (Mike and Julie Evans) and myself were ones of
the last to leave and were able to adorn the front porch
with a fine pair of Morgans.
I wonder if the 'Rothschilds' would have
approved?

A second visit to this show. Last year
we went to look at 'Morgans' as we were considering what
to by buy....so only seemed right to have a return visit
now we own one! A fine collection of Morgans, Lotus,
MG's, Bentley and many others including Jaguars as the
organisers of this lovely event are the Jaguar
Enthusiasts' Club. Thanks to Thames Valley MOG for
allowing is to join the display. Here Car 54 is next to
a lovely 1929 3 Wheeler....(It was too nice for the
top!) |

Car 46:
April 19th 2009 - Repton to Malvern Run, England
(posted by Yvonne & Alistair Skinner) |
| |
 |
We have only recently acquired our Le
Mans 62 car so the run from Repton to Malvern was our
first 'official’ outing in No.46, although I have to
confess it’s not our first Morgan- it’s my husband
Alistair’s 11th (although he has been a Morgan owner for
40 years) and our 6th (He says it will be the last!)
We were one of the first cars to arrive
at the School as we had spent the night with our
friends, David & Carol Wood, who were marshalling the
event and so had to be there early. Fortunately, Repton
is a short, twenty-minute run from their house and there
were bacon butties and hot drinks awaiting us at the
school to thoroughly wake us up.
It was a cool, slightly overcast
morning, which promised well and, indeed, it wasn’t long
before the sun burnt it’s way through and other Morgans
started to stream into the car park: examples from
across the range- 4/4s, Plus 8s, Plus 4s, Roadsters and
a smattering of Aeros & Flat rads- the three wheelers
were in a separate car park, but they were
well-represented too. However, as far as we could see,
we were the only LeMans car present.
It was a perfect day for a scenic run.
The Morgans left the school car park at one-minute
intervals and the excellent roadbook guided us for just
over 90 miles through the counties of Derbyshire,
Leicestershire, Warwickshire and finally,
Worcestershire. We enjoyed the lovely scenery and pretty
villages and stopped of for a ‘Ploughman’s’ at Upton –
on – Severn – one of our favourite spots in that region.
We fed the ducks and the enormous carp with the few
crumbs that remained from our lunch, before setting off
on the final leg to the new Visitor Centre next door to
the Morgan factory in Malvern. It was another excuse for
a natter as there wasn’t an awful lot to see in the
centre. I did note the rather splendid parquet dance
floor, but was a bit disappointed that someone had
removed the ‘mirror ball’!
Unfortunately, we had to forgo the visit
to the impressive Malvern College as we had to catch the
18.20 Eurotunnel Crossing to take us back to our home in
the Charente region of France, but we gathered that it
was well worth a visit and most people made the most of
spending a sunny afternoon in the pretty gardens.
We managed to catch our train by the
skin of our teeth and we are looking forward to many
happy motoring kilometres in our Morgan. |

Amongst several other Morgans we were
proud to be able to present three Le Mans 62 at this
fascinating day out in the beautiful Warwickshire
countryside. With weather to match!
It was great to catch up with existing
Registrant Steve Green (Car 44) and discover a new owner
to the Register - Arthur Edge (Car 8) together with
ourselves. |

So with Goodwood visited last month, the
next great British Race Circuit had to be... Brooklands.
So when they opened the doors for a Morgan Day it just
had to be done!
A glorious sunny Sunday (a little too
early for us for once!) but a misty start to what turned
out to be a super day. We had already arranged to meet
up with Mike and Julie Evans (Car 40) (photo top left),
Mike is a volunteer at the museum and had told us what a
great day it is. Brooklands is a great museum with cars,
bikes (motor and otherwise) and aircraft. You can even
'fly' on an original Concorde. As a special event they
'fired up' and ran around the paddocks the famous 24
Litre Napier-Railton the holder of the fastest speed
record on the circuit. (Rita caught me looking admiring
the size of the Speedo, the red line was recommended to
be 1,800RPM!)
Only part of the original banked
circuits remains but the Test Hill was open for those
brave enough to try it. The 'brave' did not include Mike
and myself BUT did include Clifford Pratt (Car 9) (seen
on the left starting his tyre spinning journey).
His son certainly enjoyed it! So it was
great to meet Clifford as well.
The day was complete. Make an effort to
visit
Brooklands Museum you will enjoy it.

Car 79: October
3rd-5th 2008 - Cotswolds Run, England
(posted by Martin Cooper) |

 |
Having bought Car 79, we decided to head
down to the Cotswold's area. We traveled down to
Broadway in darkness , but arrived without any mishaps!
(cream dials look fab in the dark anyhow) Luggage
space?, how to get all the baggage in behind the seats
with hardtop/headrests ??
Toured around in the sunshine on
Saturday via Broadway, Moreton in Marsh, Chipping
Campden, Chipping Norton,Woodstock and then on to meet
up with Keith and Rita with Car No 54 in Great Tew
(Falkland Arms). The cars looked great side by side on
the village green (sorry residents but they are Morgan's
after all!) - Took loads of shots and exchanged tales
with Keith and Rita.
Then back via Broadway for the night.
Sunday trip was back up the M6 via Malvern Link just to
take shots of TOK outside the factory with heavy rain
all the way!! I now know all the leak paths into my new
toy !! Passed an old sixty's Morgan with an elderly gent
driving on the road into Malvern with no top in the
pouring rain ! (they don't make Morgan drivers like that
anymore) - He waved at us - I bet he thinks we are soft
? - hard top on a Morgan !! what's all that about?Took
some images of TOK outside the factory in the pouring
rain and headed for sunny Cheshire to clean and polish
my new toy. Must buy a luggage rack , as we needed to
remove the top to get our luggage upon return home. |

Here's Peters' car in full summer trim (aeroscreens
and all) ,when I was able to meet up near his home town
near Frankfurt. |

Along with other Classic Cars and

But felt a little intimidated by the

Spot the Le Mans!
Great Sunny Sunday (well most of the
time!)
Fellow Lions, but of Newport Pagnell and
Olney origin ( I am a Winslow Lion) organised their
regular 'Motorama' but this year in the Town Centre Car
Park.
A varied display of vehicles young and
old and pleased to see ours was one of three fine
Morgans representing the finer side of motoring.
Although there are some things you can't
do in a Morgan (see left)...like enjoy a picnic (unless you have a
4 seater I guess!!).
Bet they have enjoyed the luxury of
a real back seat.
Well done Lions and a bit of cash for
charity too. |

it!

Summer Fete and Open Gardens in Creaton
gave the ideal opportunity for our first trip to a Mog
Meet. Thames Valley Mog, FoxMog and CranMog met in a
members driveway to show of our cars to the folk of
Creaton in Northampton. I think the cars got more
attention than some of the gardens. Yes that was me in
the July issue of Miscellany! |
